In his search for a new relationship with industrial residual streams, Karel Op 't Eynde seeks the functional and aesthetic added value of a changeable material flow.

The unpredictability of the uneven structure of these wooden pieces ensures that they find no place in their current industrial framework or production process and are therefore discarded or even end up in the incinerator. Karel Op 't Eynde tackles this unpredictability in a handcrafted way and sees this as the creative advantage of this innovative piece of furniture.

"The restrictions of a production process and the consequences on its residual flows are often invisible to the consumer. As a designer, I seize the opportunity to make these tangible."
